No - video podcasts can be viewed online, burned to DVD and viewed on a television, downloaded to a portable media player, including but not limited to the video iPod, viewed on a Playstation Portable, viewed on some mobile phones, and used in many other ways.

What is a video podcast?

February

Definition: A video podcast is a collection of digital videos that are enclosed in a podcast newsfeed to make it easy for users to subscribe and receive each episode.

The podcast feed is an RSS 2.0 newsfeed, with enclosures. Each enclosure references an individual episode of the video podcast, and provides the URL of the episode’s digital file.

The video podcast feed URL can be added to a podcast client, and the client should automatically download new episodes as they are published. The videos can then be watched on a computer or copied to other media or devices to be viewed.

The most popular video podcast platform is currently the Apple video iPod. However, many other devices are capable of playing video podcasts.
