Video Podcast Reflects on Suicide

12

February

17 Minutes17 minutes, a video podcast project by Chris Barr, takes a look at suicide.

Description:

17 Minutes is a performance and video blog project. It is estimated that someone commits suicide every 17 minutes. For each performance I spend 17 minutes standing outdoors next to a tree. At the end of this 17 minutes I fall to the earth. This ritual offers a place of reflection, the time between. It also deals with the specific circumstance of my own brother’s suicide and as a reenactment aims to be reminder of the life I am engaged in.

There are 72 videos so far. Every episode of the podcast follows the same script - yet every episode is also completely unique.

New Personal Media Viewer

16

January

Sci Fi Video ViewerPodcasting News has an interesting news item about MicroOptical’s Personal Media Viewer.

By connecting the small, ultra-light “binocular” eyewear viewer to an iPod, users can watch their favorite music videos, video podcasts and TV shows with a large image right in front of their eyes. Since MicroOptical’s myvu viewer works indoors and outdoors, users can experience portable video anywhere.

“We chose Macworld as the venue to debut the product in the U.S. because of the overwhelming response Apple has had for its video iPod,” said Mark Spitzer, CEO of MicroOptical. “As the iPod changes the way people experience video, the myvu viewer will accelerate its adoption by providing hands free, head-up access to a large virtual image. The myvu viewer makes watching portable video more practical.”

MicroOptical has not announced pricing or availability.
