“Dan Rather Reports,” a new weekly news program produced and hosted by well-known broadcast journalist Dan Rather, will make its world premiere on HDNet Tuesday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET, it was announced today by Mark Cuban, Chairman and Co-founder of HDNet. The show marks the return of Rather to television news, with his distinguished record as a premier news journalist.
HDNet is the first national television network broadcasting all of its programming in 1080i HD, the highest-quality format of high-definition television (HDTV). All HDNet original programming is HD-DVR compatible, allowing viewers to pause and time-delay shows so that they can watch them when they want.
According to HDNet, the show will feature hard-edged field reports, in-depth interviews and investigative pieces that emphasize accuracy, fairness and guts in their reporting. The program will cover topics including, but not limited to, politics, the environment, the global economy, and international affairs and conflicts.
The format of Dan Rather Reports will be dictated by the needs of individual stories. Each show will typically consist of multiple stories, but some shows will be devoted to a single, hour-long report.
“HDNet has given Dan Rather free rein to create a program that is built around his vision,” said Cuban. “‘Dan Rather Reports’ will provide him with an extraordinary opportunity to report news that is not defined by corporate economics and that takes its cues from the stories themselves, not a pre-conceived structure.”
