Washington Post Video Mashup

The Washington Post is inviting people to create video mashups featuring Post political reporter Dana Milbank. Anyone can download Milbank’s questions as an MPEG2 video clip, and then cut it up, mash it up, even slap it up, flip it, rub it down, as long as it meets their requirements (below).

Earlier in the year, Rocketboom, the popular video blog, asked readers to mashup video of former host Amanda Congdon. The site provided a dinner and a website kit that featured video of Congdon providing half of a conversation.

Requirements:

  1. Submissions must be in Quicktime (.mov) or Windows Media (.wmv) format and no more than three (3) minutes in length. You do not have to include all of the Dana Milbank clip we have provided, but your submission must include at least a part of it.
  2. Submissions will be disqualified if they violate copyright or are determined to be offensive, threatening, defamatory or libelous. You must have full rights to any material you include in your submission.
  3. Submitters must provide contact information (name plus e-mail or phone number). No e-mail addresses or phone numbers will be published.

Email finished mash-up clips to the post via their site.

The Post plans to will post all videos submitted that meet the requirements and will give viewers the opportunity to comment and rate the videos.
