Beautiful Oceans, a company that offers the coral reef science courses for recreational scuba divers and snorkelers. has launched Coral Reef & Eco Diver, an online magazine built around blogging, audio podcasting and video podcasting.It doesn’t fall patly into any one category - podcasting, vlogging, blogging - but it’s an interesting use of inexpensive technologies to create a niche publication.
The free weekly news “magazine” features text blogs, podcasts, images and video footage. The magazine’s goal is to provide scuba divers and snorkelers with interesting scientific facts, tips and information about coral reef biology and responsible diving techniques that can be directly applied in-water.
“There’s been an overwhelming demand from scuba divers and snorkelers to access fun and practical information about coral reef biology and eco diving, which also provides advice on how people can help protect the coral reef environment,” says Stephan Becker, President of Beautiful Oceans. “We are thrilled to see subscribers from around the world – from the US mainland to Europe and the Far East – accessing this information.”

Beautiful Oceans donates 1% of its annual income, or 10% of is annual pre-tax profit (whichever is the greater), to not-for-profit organizations active in coral reef conservation.
